Scent of Heaven – (Plato’s Groove & Act of Congress 2006)

Unexpected moments of exquisite pleasure or pain can awaken the Soul.

The fragrance of a newborn baby
Can stir the soul of even the hardest man.
It can make him figure out what this life is all about
And give him the strength to finally make a stand.

He’s caught the scent of heaven.
He’s seen stardust on the wind.
He’s had a taste of how it ought to be.
Once captured he can never be free again.

She could almost taste the moonlight.
As it made its way to her from across the sea.
In the midst of all her pain hope somehow remained.
She knew that somehow, someday she would be free.

She’s caught the scent of heaven.
She’s seen stardust on the wind.
She’s had a taste of how it ought to be.
Once captured she can never be free again.

As the sunlight dances in the early spring
You can sometimes catch a glimpse of another world breaking through.
It’s a brief lifting of a veil, which makes this world begin to pale
In the light of a dream that somehow must come true.

We’ve caught the scent of heaven.
We’ve seen stardust on the wind.
We’ve had a taste of how it ought to be.
Once captured we can never be free again.
