Wishes in the Night – The Beloved (Audio)

Standard

The night sounds rise and fall around me

As stars emerge from the deep black well

Fireflies dance on the edge of vision

As dusk gives way to the night

Coolness settles upon the land

Stillness settles upon my heart

Tiny pinpricks of light appear

Delicate, peeping through the black curtain

Now soft pearl glow cast across the silence

Each moment brings the detail into focus

So too my heart’s desire becomes clear

Defined against the backdrop of my soul’s quietude

My wish is for you

And my wish for you is me

That you might be filled with me as the emptiness of space

Is filled with glorious light

That I might be to you the peace

Which settles over the night calling nature to rest

A night with no bumps in the dark.

No fear of exposure

No longer watchful

Only rest and blissful surrender

And if I may not have this wish then my next would be

That you may see yourself through my eyes

Then you would not need my light to fill your night

You would know the power in your form, the elegance in your movement

You would know your beauty as a gift and light to this dark and troubled world

You are most desirable in all things

And from that place of confident rest your striving would cease

You would become a source of grace and hope

And would lift up all whom you touch

If I might be granted even my second wish

I would know that my life has had a meaning

For I have recognized the sublime among the ordinary

To have held such to my breast is to have lived

  1. woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow im in love with your words…..

  2. I saw in a comment that brought clarity. “frequency that our soul craves on the quantum and material levels and everywhere in between. They say its all energy at different frequencies anyway.” I kept thinking to myself, to read with your conscious mind. It rides at a higher tenor, though. If I allow myself to just sit after, and be with what my conscious mind won’t see today, then I’m there. It’s something I feel your writing insists I do. I hope that makes some kind of sense.

As always, the depth is stunning! And I am grateful!

  3. “You would know your beauty as a gift and light to this dark and troubled world.” I find this sentence true yet maybe you can better explain to me what “beauty” means to you. Beauty as is in a superficial aspect or beauty as an person’s individuality?

    • Beauty silences my spirit. It calls to me from a place beyond the surface of things. Beauty as defined by popular culture seems plastic and shallow and it think many times hides a dangerous darkness.that which is authentic and unique is beautiful to me about a person. Not the surface. What I have found in the past is that when I know and love someone deeply the external manifestation of them becomes the definition of what is beautiful and desired. Tend not to get stuck on particular forms or parameters. If I get stuck it is on a person not parts.

      • “Beauty silences my spirit. It calls to me from a place beyond the surface of things…” Your replies are just as eloquent as your blog posts. I hope you realize the effect you have upon us. 🙂

      • Thank you so much for your insight and thoughts I really appreciate them. I think I have a better understanding of beauty and the root cause of it.

  4. Oh my, what an absolutely deliciously romantic and deeply soulful piece, Plato! Isn’t it the point of all life? And all the world. It reminds me of one of my favorite poems, William Blakes’ Auguries of Innocence,

To see a world in a grain of sand
And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand
    And eternity in an hour.

Thank you for sharing your gift with us. Your writing is truly like fine whiskey 🙂 Mellow, deep, with more than a hint of lingering sweetness. And leaves the reader wanting more.

  5. Do they seem different to you in anyway as you go back through them and do the audio? The subject matter of this one blends so well with your voice which is so calming…

    • I think that emotion or the reality it was trying to allude to is a reality, a frequency that our soul craves on the quantum and material levels and everywhere in between. They say its all energy at different frequencies anyway. Which is spirt by definition. And that is a subject that has captured your attention. Your soul knows something about that, that it wants you to know. Cant wait to read more of what you find out. If you have any interest there is a thing I called platos groove on the bolg. It is kinda the theme. I did it like sixties beat poetry. It was fun. My middle son did the improv piano behind it. Be Groovy.

  6. Goodness… That one stopped me dead in my tracks… You are an amazing writer. The imagery in the first part was so palpable. And “For I have recognized the sublime among the ordinary” This is what you’re seeing in your own travels inward. This poem is almost a road map.
