Mountains nor Molehills – Audio Update

Standard

Art – Matt Chambliss

Music – Hans Zimmer – Inception – Time

I sense the vibrations deep within me
Foundations quake, shaking that which once was firmly held
What was assumed to be eternal falls around me in pieces
Like glitter in a globe it slowly swirls, gravity accomplishing its work
I watch it crumble and tumble, down, down, down
Currents of anxiety keep it aloft past its time
It needs to settle, I need to settle
An active passivity restrains my impulse to jump, to move, to seek distraction
Let it settle, it needs to settle, don’t stir it up again

New awareness is finally breaking the old making room for what is not, yet
But the birth is like the grinding of hard stone and dust
Shifting of the plates, a new geography is forming
It threatens home and kin. They feel it too
But crisis calls for calm, don’t feed it, don’t jump
Old rifts will be mended, new vistas will emerge, danger and hope coexists
I can make neither mountains nor mole hills
The power is at work in me, I am not the Maker, I am being made
I will not jump, I will wait, and watch, and listen to the stillness

    • Oh, my dear Calen. You DO have other eyes. When you are touched in a way that seems inexplicable by something, THAT is you seeing by your others eyes. I’ve seen you perceive through them. Our conscious self is often not aware of that ‘seeing.’ It is an inner ‘seeing, experience, and knowing,’ to which our conscious self is unaware. But it doesn’t stop it from getting in, and flowing through you. Same with me, and everybody.

  1. Today I’m sitting on the precipice of a canyon, looking out over the trillions of years of evolution. I think about what you wrote, and love the metaphor of a snowglobe, of how things seem to go in slow motion.

But the part which touched my heart, settled deeper within was this:
“New awareness is finally breaking the old making room for what is not, yet.”

It is the like that part from Lao Tzu’s book, “Be like ice about to melt.”
And I glimpse, that life is exactly that, always standing at the point of being made, and in the next moment, it’s the same, over and over. Once that which is not yet, becomes that which is, we’re back on the threshold of our next that ‘which is not, yet.’

    It is utterly sublime.

I follow the thoughts which come from what you’ve (or some part of you) given us, and then I see this: “It seems the impulse to fix or do or figure gives power to what needs to die.”

You make me feel like you’re Sly Stone: “I wanna take you higher.”

Your voice echoes out to the ancient rocks of the canyon: “wait, and watch, and listen to the stillness.”

  2. “But the birth is like the grinding of hard stone and dust
Shifting of the plates, a new geography is forming”

Makes me think just how dangerous it can be to go spelunking in our caves where the ground shifts periodically and morphs into a new landscape — same as our inner geography.

“I can make neither mountains nor mole hills
The power is at work in me, I am not the Maker, I am being made
I will not jump, I will wait, and watch, and listen to the stillness”

That right there is the hardest thing in the world to do for those of us who need a modicum of control to feel like our world isn’t spinning us out to the edges. How does one set aside the shoveling of dirt to build those mountains and mole hills and become addicted instead to the stillness…

    Pretty raw picture of a life going through upheaval. That must have been a hard one to pull out of your being, boyo. Feel like I’m standing looking in a crater… {{{Plato}}}
